School Uniform - from September 2024 all children will be expected to wear school uniform when attending Reedley Hallows Nursery school.

Reedley Hallows Nursery School requires all pupils to wear a school uniform when attending nursery school. A complete list of acceptable items for uniform can be found in this policy.

Aims and objectives

Our policy for school uniform is based on the notion that school uniform:

  • fosters a sense of community and belonging amongst our pupils
  • has been selected for comfort and suitability during various school day activities
  • promotes a sense of pride in the school
  • prepares children for transition to primary school
  • creates peer equality in terms of appearance
  • is designed with health and safety in mind

Parents need to ensure that the uniform follows the school requirements provided below.

Our Uniform is:

  • Dark green sweatshirt or cardigan with Reedley Hallows logo
  • Plain coloured polo shirt
  • Dark grey or black trousers, joggers, shorts, skirt or pinafore dress
  • Green and white checked dresses may be worn in the summer

Sweatshirts and cardigans with the school logo on can be purchased from the school office. All other items of uniform can be purchased from local supermarkets.

Reedley Hallows Nursery School fully support making school uniforms affordable and accessible for all children.  We have some spare second-hand uniforms that we can offer to parents for a small donation. Please call into the school office to see what we have available.

We are always grateful for any donations of good-quality second-hand uniforms that families have finished with – please hand in to your child’s class teacher or keyworker, or take them to the school office.

Jewellery

On health and safety grounds we do not allow children to wear jewellery. The exception to this rule are ear-ring studs in pierced ears.

We have some spare second-hand uniforms that we can offer to parents for a small donation. We periodically display them on tables at the end of a school day.

We are always grateful for any donations of good-quality second-hand uniforms that families have finished with.

Outdoor clothing

Our weather cannot be relied upon even in the summer, please make sure your child has a jumper and a warm coat with them. Wet weather suits and wellies will be provided in very wet weather. Suitable shoes must always be worn in school.

Labelling

Please make sure that all items of clothing are clearly labelled with your child`s name. This helps us to locate any missing clothing quickly.

The role of Parents

We ask all parents who send their children to our school to support the nursery school uniform policy. We believe that parents have a duty to send their children to school dressed correctly and ready for their daily tasks. One of the responsibilities of parents is to ensure that their child has the correct uniform and that it is clean and in good repair.

The Role of Teachers and Support Staff

All staff will set a good example in terms of dress. This should be determined by smart professional dress and can be varied according to the activities being taught.
